Expected Learning Outcomes

The course aims to offer a cultural journey through which the student will acquire the necessary theoretical and methodological tools to "read" the institutional changes, social and economic conditions of the contemporary world with particular reference to technological development, a new organization job's and modern production systems.

A good basic knowledge of contemporary history: the main events, Italian and international, characterizing the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance of lessons Not compulsory, but also recommended.

Detailed Course Content

Will investigate the following themes: the birth and evolution of the European continent in late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries; the Birth of new social classes: workers and middle-class in the new nation-states, between the Marxist tradition and the contemporary historiography; Capitalism between imperialism and colonialism; The national unification in Italy; Giolitti' politics; World War I and The Russian Revolution; Post war e Fascism in Italy; The great crisis of 30s; World war II; Decolonization and Third World; Republican Italy.
