Course Structure

This teaching relies upon a teaching methodology that has students at the centre. Traditional teaching methods (i.e. lectures) are accompanied by seminars and training courses. Students are involved in 'active learning', therefore they are invited to read beforehand the selected readings and comment them in class. Moreover, they are invited to present in class via PPT or PREZI's slides the content of selected readings. The key aim of this teaching is to analyze problems, cooperation processes and conflicts in the Mediterranean area.

Detailed Course Content

This teaching course applies approaches and methods of Political Science in order to understand institutions, problems and processes affecting the Mediterranean area. Specific attention will be devoted to the European Union, an international actor playing distinct regional role(s). Perspectives and challenges of the EU as a 'normative power' will be critically investigated. The Mediterranean migration crisis will be analyzed as a crucial regional problem.
