FABRIZIO SCIACCA

Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Catania and Departmental Research Lead in the Department of Political and Social Sciences.

PROFILE
Trained in law and legal philosophy, with a Degree in Law with highest honours from the University of Catania and a PhD in Legal Philosophy with highest honours from the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa.
Research lies at the intersection of jurisprudence, legal and political philosophy, constitutional theory, legal interpretation, fundamental rights, and the theory of institutional legitimacy. Particular attention is devoted to the normative foundations of legal and political order, including constitutionalism, the rule of law, justice, authority, democratic legitimacy, and the constitutional framework of public institutions.
Current research also examines the transformation of public authority under conditions of technological change, with particular emphasis on technopower, democracy, and public governance.
Author and editor of around one hundred scholarly publications, including monographs, peer-reviewed journal articles, edited volumes, and critical editions.
Academic experience includes visiting appointments and research stays at universities and research institutions in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Spain.
